Annemieke Kok

Biografie/Biography

Annemieke Kok is werkzaam als diëtist en onderzoeker in het UMC Utrecht. Haar promotieonderzoek richtte zich, onder andere, op de haalbaarheid van een beweeginterventie bij hoofd-halskanker. Huidige onderzoeken richten zich op de haalbaarheid van een prehabilitatie traject bij deze doelgroep bestaande uit een gecombineerde voedings-en bewegingsinterventie. Daarnaast zet zij zich in voor de transitie naar gezonde en duurzame voeding in het UMC Utrecht en in het landelijke NFU project duurzame voeding in ziekenhuizen.

Annemieke works as a dietitian and researcher at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht). Her PhD research focused, among other things, on the feasibility of an exercise intervention for head and neck cancer patients. Her current research focuses on the feasibility of a prehabilitation program for this population, consisting of a combined nutrition and exercise intervention. In addition, she is committed to the transition towards healthy and sustainable food at UMC Utrecht and is involved in the national NFU project on sustainable food in hospitals.

Summary of presentation

In this presentation, the scientific and practical feasibility of using plant-based proteins in prehabilitation programs is explored. We discuss the quality of plant-based proteins in relation to protein requirements in prehabilitation, their effectiveness in muscle protein synthesis, the acceptance by patients and healthcare professionals, and practical tools for implementation in clinical practice.
